We don't believe in the concept of street children; the street cannot give a birth to a child. More accurately, we say street-connected children and youth. This highlights the individuals' personhood, and point-in-time connection to utilize the resources the streets have. It also works to break the stigma that humiliates these young people. It encourages reflection into how and why that person became connected to the streets.

The reasons that children and youth turn to the streets vary. From general situation of poverty to abuse to family dynamics (death, separation or divorce) - significant realities rooted at the community level. Pamoja Tunaweza Boys & Girls Club works in direct collaboration with community members to increase awareness and knowledge of children's rights, child protection, and laws safeguarding children.

Community engagement efforts include open seminars, mentorship to community leaders, bridging connections between various youth groups, and collaborating with municipal government officials.
