July Update

August 1, 2017

See what we've been up to for the past month!

It's been a couple months since we've updated you so we'll focus on the highlights!

The Street-Connected Youth Education Program is going well and has entered into its second year. It is truly incredible to see the growth the students have gone through in just a short period of time. We are so proud of them and can't wait to see how much more they will grow in the coming year! Since our last update the students have...

  • ...participated in a week of rugby training with Bhubesi Pride. Not only did they learn about the game of rugby, but they learned life skills and built relationships with other youth and organizations in the local Moshi community.

  • ...participated in our first Art Exhibition which displayed their paintings in the theme of 'Discover Kilimanjaro'. For many of them, this was their first art piece - we know we are biased, but we think the paintings were absolutely stunning!

  • ...graduated from First Aid Africa's bronze level first aid certification course. They are now ready to provide basic first aid to our community!

The Pamoja Tunaweza Workshop now has a shop in Moshi town! We share a cooperative space at a local restaurant where our Members now work, create and share the story of Pamoja Tunaweza Boys & Girls Club.

  • For the month of May, 4 occupational therapy students from Queen's University joined us to work exclusively with Workshop team. With our team taking shifts working at the co-op, the students worked with the team to further develop their professionalism, and  create a marketing package.

  • We are very proud of the Worshop team as they made it to Hollywood! French Montana, an American-Morrocan rapper, was gifted one of our 'hope' bangles and has been seen wearing it around. Very exciting!

  • The Workshop team is waiting for you! We are always ready to fulfill a wholesale order of our trademark products, or design something new just for you. Contact us now to learn more about our products!

At the end of the month, all our Members, friends and family came together for a big feast! As a celebration and parting gift for the Club, the occupational therapy students generously sponsored and hosted a goat roast for all the Club stakeholders. A goat roast is quite a treat, and a first time experience for many of our students in the Street-Connected Youth Education Program. It was a very special day full of food, fun, dancing and most of all, laughter! Thank you so much Alisha, Lyssa, Molly and Sam for your dedication over the past few months, and for throwing such a special event. It will be one to remember for many years to come!
