As we've mentioned, pamoja tunaweza means "together we can" in Swahili. This means everyone, not just those connected to the streets.
The Pamoja Tunaweza Boys & Girls Club house is a home for all those in the community. It is a place for people from all walks of life to come together in a safe and welcoming environment. It is a place to learn, play, grow and simply 'be'.
Many of the youth we work with in the Street Outreach program join us at the community centre for the day, to get the much needed rest they need. Some come to bathe and do their laundry. Others use it as a place to continue to learn new skills. Whatever their use of the centre is, it is a safe place for them to be.
Currently we offer fun and educational programming to the community's youth. We are planning that one day we will actively incorporate other populations - the wazee (elderly) of the community, those with disabilities, anyone you can think of! We love to empower our community and break down societal barriers - what better way than to bring everyone together?
If you are interested in learning more about our community centre or what you can do to be a part of it, please send us a message, we would love to talk!
